How we compare prices

What we do, what we don't do, and how to check us.

Where the numbers come from

Num prices are generated directly from our live provider catalogue when the page is built, using the same pricing engine that charges you at checkout. They are not typed in by hand and cannot drift from what you actually pay.

Competitor prices are read from each provider's own public website and entered by a person, with the date recorded. We do not estimate them, we do not infer them, and we do not generate them. If we have not checked a destination, we do not publish a comparison for it — an empty page is better than an invented one.

How plans are matched

Each row compares the same data allowance over the same validity period. Where a provider has no matching plan we mark it “Not offered” rather than substituting something close and calling it equivalent.

Daily-allowance plans are compared on their total data over the plan's life, so a 1GB/day 7-day plan is treated as 7GB.

What we will not do

  • Publish a price we have not verified on the provider's own site
  • Hide a row because a competitor wins it
  • Compare a small plan of ours against a large plan of theirs
  • Describe a comparison as current when it is months old — pages older than 90 days carry a warning

Why we bother saying this

Comparative advertising is regulated: EU Directive 2006/114/EC, the UK CAP Code and US Lanham Act §43(a) all require comparisons to be objective, verifiable and not misleading. Those rules exist because comparison tables are easy to rig. We would rather show a table you can check than one that always flatters us.
